Based on a true story, Tempting Providence is a play about duty and sadness, love and change; in 1921 British nurse Myra Grimsley signed a two-year contract to serve as the sole health care provider for the sparsely settled coast of Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula, and ended up staying for the rest of her life.
One of the most beloved pieces of Newfoundland and Labrador theatre, Tempting Providence has wowed audiences around the world with its poetic script, moving performances, and imaginative minimalist staging. Written by Robert Chafe and directed by Jillian Keiley, this show features: Una Hill-McMullin, Colin Furlong, Marquita Walsh & Steve Oates.
