Tim Baker & All Hands - Home for Christmas

Tim Baker returns home to Newfoundland this December for a special holiday concert at The Garrick Theatre in Bonavista on December 18th. Backed by his band, All Hands, Baker will perform songs from across his extensive catalogue, with a particular focus on last year’s critically-acclaimed Christmas album Full Rainbow of Light.

Known for his soaring vocals, masterful songwriting, and magnetic live performances, Baker has built a reputation as one of Canada’s leading troubadours. His concerts are joyful, emotional celebrations, filled with both intimate moments and full-band energy. This show will be no different – in Tim’s own words, he has planned a performance that centers around a unifying concept throughout: “the warmth, the nostalgia and the goodness of being home at Christmas. Through many themes and stories and sounds, these songs keep pointing back here, to my people and places and past, in Newfoundland & Labrador - to all the tradition and the change of it, the warmth and the winter, the hardship and the hope of it.”

In addition to tracks from Full Rainbow of Light, Tim Baker & All Hands will of course be playing much-loved Hey Rosetta! Christmas tunes, as well as crowd favourites from Tim’s own ever-deepening solo catalogue. Join us for a festive evening of music this December, as winter takes hold, and the warmth, nostalgia, and hope of the holiday season begins to shine through, in this dynamic performance by one of Newfoundland’s greatest cultural treasures.

Rum Ragged: All The Bells And Wassails

Rum Ragged: All The Bells And Wassails

This holiday season, Rum Ragged will release their long-anticipated holiday album, All The Bells and Wassails via LHM Records. True to the band’s reputation, this collection is more than seasonal entertainment—it is a cultural document, grounding the holiday spirit in Newfoundland and Labrador’s centuries-old traditions of song, storytelling, and community.

Rather than adopting the gloss of a conventional Christmas record, Rum Ragged reach back into the seasonal customs of the North Atlantic. The album takes its name from the centuries- old practice of wassailing—an act of gathering, singing, and sharing drink to foster goodwill through the darkest days of the year. The group’s interpretations draw on carols and melodies that travelled across oceans with immigrants to Newfoundland and Labrador, reshaped over generations in outport kitchens and parish halls.

The arrangements are at once meticulous and authentic. Fiddle, bouzouki, and bodhrán echo the instrumentation of festive gatherings past, while the band’s layered harmonies evoke the communal quality of neighbours lifting their voices together. This is music that captures the continuity of cultural memory—seasonal songs as they were carried forward, lived, and celebrated. Yet the album is not bound by nostalgia alone. Rum Ragged infuses each track with vitality, underscoring how tradition remains alive and dynamic. There is reverence, but also the joy of performance: the energy of a band deeply embedded in their heritage, translating it for audiences both at home and abroad.

All The Bells and Wassails is not simply a holiday soundtrack. It is a reflection of how music sustains community, offering light, warmth, and continuity across generations. In sharing these songs, Rum Ragged reminds us that the holidays are as much about cultural inheritance as celebration—voices carried forward, bells ringing through time.

Come gather, sing, and share a drink with us at The Garrick and celebrate the holidays with Rum Ragged!

Tim Baker & All Hands present his new Christmas album Full Rainbow of Light, with special guests Villages

Tim Baker & All Hands present his new Christmas album Full Rainbow of Light, with special guests Villages

Tim is on tour with full band, full sound & full hearts to bring his new Christmas record Full Rainbow Of Light to life.

Juno Award nominated, Polaris Prize short-listed, ECMA-laden musician Tim Baker returns with a new album, Full Rainbow of Light. The record consists of twelve new songs, written by Tim - except for one blistering cover of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” - and recorded in his hometown of St. John’s, Newfoundland. To call it a Christmas album is to cheapen the depth of the songwriting – these are masterful, original compositions that are set in the big feelings and high emotions of the holidays.

Inspiration for this album stems largely from Tim’s connection to Newfoundland and the unique and deep way December hits there each year. In Tim’s own words, “Full Rainbow of Light is the first record I’ve made that really centers around a single concept throughout: the warmth, the nostalgia and the goodness of being home at Christmas. Through many themes and stories and sounds, these songs keep pointing back there, to my people and places and past, in Newfoundland & Labrador - to all the tradition and the change of it, the warmth and the winter, the hardship and the hope of it.”

This album is the follow-up to 2022’s The Festival and its 2023 companion EP Along the Mountain Road. Those releases sent Tim on extensive international touring, both with his full band, All Hands, and as a solo artist, selling out some of Canada’s most acclaimed venues, including Massey Hall in Toronto. In many ways, Full Rainbow of Light is a bridge between his long love of expansive full-band energy, and the vulnerability, purity and maturity of his recent solo performances. While there is an obvious specificity to the album - set as it is at Christmas, in Tim’s own home and history, complete with traditional Newfoundland instrumentation strewn throughout - the authenticity of the work is something that transcends the specific and shines a warm welcoming light for everyone, everywhere.

While Tim & the band will be presenting the new album, they’ll of course be playing much-loved Hey Rosetta! Christmas tunes, as well as crowd favorites from Tim’s own ever-deepening solo catalogue. And with Cape Breton’s Villages joining them, it’s liable to be a travelling East Coast Christmas party, full of new, artful, instant classics. Truly, not to be missed.

Blue Star Juniper - Craig Young & Andrea Munro

Blue Star Juniper was formed by chance in September of 2022.  While the days got shorter and the weather got colder, Craig Young (guitar) and Andrea Monro (banjo) met and realized that the music they could make together would be memorable and profound.  They play Newfoundland influenced country folk music, sharing lead vocals and harmonies.

Craig Young hails from the southwest coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.  Craig’s guitar playing career has spanned decades and countries. A lifetime of guitar playing has created a story woven with lyrics and guitar as told in a simple baritone voice with dynamic flatpicking.

Andrea Monro comes from the rocky east coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. She was raised by music lovers, and grew up singing in choirs and hiding out under the piano while her father and brother played everything from Franz Liszt to Scott Joplin.  Under the guidance and encouragement of Newfoundlands legendary songwriter Ron Hynes, she learned to play guitar and started writing songs. Andrea’s ability to interpret a song and tell a story has made her a favourite among the St. John’s music scene.
